Scholarship for Students in the United States

Abraham’s Tent, through donations from the Sharmallison Fund, is pleased to offer scholarships of up to $10,000 each to high school seniors who will attend a college, university, or vocational school in September 2019.

Eligibility

  • Be a current high school student (attending school in the U.S.) who will graduate during the 2018-19 school year

  • Receive a high school diploma during the current academic year

  • Plan to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution

  • GPA of 3.5

  • SAT score of 1000+ or ACT score of 20+

  • List of extra-curricular, volunteer, and/or work experience

  • 3 letters of recommendation (from teachers, counselor, employers, etc.)

  • Completed short-answer questions

  • Narrative essay based on the prompt

  • Parents’/guardians’ completed tax returns, showing a combined household income of less than $85,000 for 2017

  • Agree to “pay it forward” and help others by volunteering with Abraham’s Tent after graduation

Abraham’s Tent is also pleased to offer scholarships to high school seniors who will attend a college, university, or vocational/technical school in September 2019.

Eligibility

  • Be a current high school student who will graduate during the 2018-19 school year

  • Plan to pursue a degree/certificate at an accredited post-secondary institute in Guyana

  • Have a current GPA of 85/3.0/B or higher

  • Resume listing awards, extra-curricular activities, volunteer experience, and/or work experience

  • 3 letters of recommendation (from teachers, counselor, employers, etc.)

  • Completed application questions

  • Essay based on the prompt below

  • Parents’/guardians’ completed 2017 tax returns, if available

  • Agree to “pay it forward” and help others by volunteering with Abraham’s Tent after graduation

  • Maintain a C+ average post-secondary, in order to be eligible to receive additional scholarship monies each year.
